Mrs Brown was going out for the day. She locked the house and tacked a note for the milkman on the door: "NOBODY HOME. DON’T LEAVE ANYTHING."
When she got back that night, she found her door broken open and her house ransacked. On the note she had left, she found the following message added:

The Beijing Police Department says it has found evidence that Guo Meimei is involved in illegal gambling, offering sexual services, and spreading rumors about the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC), xinhuanet.com reported. According to the police, the infamous Internet celebrity has travelled to China's Macao and Hong Kong and to surrounding countries over 60 times to engage in illegal gambling. She also illegally profited over RMB100,000 by organizing gambling games. Guo also used social media to claim she was a manager of an organization under the RCSC, and posted pictures flaunting her wealth and extravagance. The rumors undermined the trust system in China's charity. Guo Meimei has a scandal again and this time I think she won’t have the same feeling as her first scandal. She deserves to be put in prison and should accept the legal sanction. Since the first time she flaunted her wealth and extravagance on the internet, she has been an infamous internet celebrity. From then on, continuous reports about her have appeared on the various social media. It was really a scandal but for her it was a good opportunity to make her name known home and abroad. She took advantage of it and made considerable income. She was just like a rotten egg which attracted the bites of mosquitoes. It’s a strange social phenomenon that some people like to approach the rotten egg and even think it a great honor to be related with it. So her immoral behavior was greatly connived, which indulged her going further to the path of evil. Actually those who once helped everything of her are to blamed as well. Guo Meimei really brings our society a terrible influence. Most importantly, her behaviors undermined the trust system in China’s charity. Because of her scandal and the rumors that she spread aiming at the Red Cross Society of China, a number of Chinese people lose confidence towards China’s charity which leads to the decreasing number of people who are willing to donate and support the

A feeling of nostalgia makes people part with their money more easily, according to academics studying patterns of consumer behavior, the BBC reported. Nostalgia is used to sell everything from food to toys. Cultivating past memories and bygone eras promotes a sense of "social connectedness", say the researchers, in which old-fashioned community values and relationships with other people are seen as being more important. In such an atmosphere, money is seen as less important - and it seems that such a mood reduces resistance to spending. It explains "retro" themes in advertising. It's an interesting discovery that the feeling of nostalgia can make people ignore the importance of money and tend to spend their money more easily. Actually most people like nostalgia and it especially falls on middle-aged people and retired ones. For those who are at the stage of transition, they have stronger feeling of nostalgia. I wonder why people have and like the feeling of nostalgia. I have to say I sometimes like to recall the past. In my opinion, the future is unpredictable, which seems to us mirage full of all kinds of unexpected anxiety and the present is harsh full of high pressures coming from life and work. So only the past can deservedly become the best period that we can regulate and console ourselves by recalling. When people are faced with contradicions and conflicts, they can secure safety protection through the memories of the past. Nostalgia is sweet in most cases and that's why it's favored by the majority of people. Nostalgia embodies that people beautify the hometown, childhood or other things and exaggerate the past of the people and things. In brief, nostalgia is seeking a kind of comfort. Going too far is as bad as not going far enough. We should not deny the present and the future because of nostalgia. If we are completely addicted to nostalgic and cannot extricate ourself, then we will have pathological nostalgic psychology and behavoir. We should stop where

Liu Wen, the producer of A Bite of China and director-general of CCTV's documentary channel, was taken away by authorities, caixin.com reported, saying it had confirmed the fact through "various sources". It's said that Liu was involved in economic malpractice related to the outsourcing of documentary and production affairs. Launched in 2011, CCTV-9 is a young but commercially successful channel - with domestic coverage of more than 900m - with Liu, the channel's first director-general, at the helm. I knew nothing of Li Wen until I read this piece of news. He turned out to be the producer of the successful documentary A Bite of China which has ever set a high audience rating of domestic coverage of over 900 million. But it's a pity that he was taken away by related authority because of economic malpractice which has been confirmed through various sources. I have ever watched several episodes of A Bite of China. I admit it's well worth watching. Every episode shows a cate with a touching story and each episode was beautifully shot giving the audience a visual feast. I guess all the foodies must drool when catching sight of the delicacy in the documentary. I have been always keen on Chinese cuisine and proud of the long history of Chinese delicious food. If you want to cook delicacy , it's better to select ingredients which are fresh and pollution free. Another important component of making a cate is the recipe. Only with the secret and special recipe can the cook cook delicious food. I also think the food tastes better if love is added to the food. I enjoy cooking as it brings me lots of pleasure and happiness.

With Chinese students flocking to schools overseas, many students who are normally based overseas are coming to China to prepare for their college entrance tests during their summer vacation, China Daily reported. According to New Oriental School, 90% of students who took SAT courses in Beijing in June came from other countries. Most of the students were born and raised in China and went to the US for middle school or high school to increase their chances of entering a US university. Lower costs and a break from their daily routine are among factors attracting them to study in China for the summer - in addition to the quality of classes that focus on improving college entrance exam results. It's not surprising that they come back to their home country to prepare for the college entrance exam. Personal data, including text messages, contact lists and photos can be extracted from iPhones through previously unpublicized techniques by Apple Inc employees, the company acknowledged, Reuters reported. At a hackers' conference last week, a researcher showed how the services take a surprising amount of data for what Apple now says are diagnostic services meant to help engineers. Users are not notified that the services are running and cannot disable them, the guy said. After reading this piece of news, I instantly feel anxious for the iphone users. It's sort of horrible that the Apple Incorporated Company even has such a kind of technique which can be very likely to be made use of by its employees to extract the personal data from the users' iphones. The fatal thing is that the users won't be notified that the services are running and are unable to be disabled. Once the personal data are let out, it may cause great loss. I think the behavior of Apple Inc Company is illegal. They should have announced to the public the existence of this kind of technique rather than acknowledge it until it was found out and confirmed. I believe it must have some negative impact on its brand reputation. I sincerely hope the Apple Inc Company can take an effective action to improve this situation winning back its image in public. I have never used iphone before because I find it hard to accept its high price. But many people are crazy about iphones, which proves that it's really a good brand. If its price is a little lower, I'd very like to consider buying one. As we all know, many apps can only be used on iphones. Whenever I see someone log in QT using their iphone, I will can't help wondering when I can also have an iphone. But when thinking of its price, I feel it's not worthy.

UN Young Professional Programs has started to recruit in China. Applicants need a first-level university degree or an advanced degree, and will need to be fluent in either English or French and be under the age of 32 by the end of 2014, Beijing News reported Friday. Despite the fiercely competitive exam, the UN offers considerable benefits for its regular employees. A basic annual wage for an entry-level employee of about $50,000 is exempted from income tax and also comes with a month's paid vacation every year. Currently, the number of Chinese employees at the UN Secretariat is over 300. What's your opinion of this piece of news ? I have to admit a certain number of people must be excited about it. It sounds great that there will be an opportunity to be recruited as an employee for the UN. Though the benefits are said not to be fairly well by a fraction of people , it will be accepted by the Chinese applicants. Just think of China's current occupation situation and the fierce competition in job hunting , the benefits are good enough to arouse the interest of many people. Have you noticed that one of the requirements for the applicants is that they should have the first-level university degree or an advanced degree ? Actually in domestic job fairs, most positions do have such a high demand in education background. Diploma is indeed useful ,at least it can make you qualified for the application. So in my opinion if one wants to increase the chance of obtaining an ideal job, a good education background is greatly needed. Have you been careful enough to notice another requirement ? That is the age. All the applicants should be under thirty-two years old. Then this requirement will discourage those who are over 32 and make them realize they are becoming old and that the world belongs to those younger than them. Actually in China 35 years old is a cutting line. The chances for people over 35 are fewer. It's a shame that Chinese isn't influential enough to be a required
